Magnetomechanical response of a steel monopile during impact pile driving

This paper reports on a measurement campaign in which the magnetomechanical response of steel monopile is recorded during installation with hydraulic impact hammer. By comparing impact-induced changes magnetic stray field structure to measured strain, this effect analysed for first time under dynamic loading conditions such large scale. It shown that displays an excellent correspondence strain terms frequency content and amplitude ratio hammer blows induce compressive pulses different magnitude. Using data, non-contact method developed validated infer hammer-induced strains using field. The proposed can be applied pile installations when use conventional devices challenging, e.g. offshore environment.
